Format and Purpose

The workshop is intended for ALL economics PhD students, primarily as a forum for presentation of the ongoing thesis research of the PhD students, but also as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. The workshop is bi-monthly, and take place on Tuesdays 12 to 13 in Rigot (bring your lunch!).
The workshop is intended to include four activities: 1. 20-30 min presentations by the PhD students, on a voluntary basis, of current thesis work or other (see below). 2. On the students' request, student-to-student presentations of papers or text-book treatments which some of you have a mutual interest in and have not had sufficiently covered by the courses (we can potentially form sub-studygroups of students for this purpose, if there is sufficient interest - let me know at our first meeting). 3. Job-interview "coaching". 4. Invitation of professors to come give a brief overview of their own ongoing research, not just their research questions and topics, but also how they actually go about carrying out the research. For students to get familiar with making presentations of own work is crucial for the job market, so even though this workshop is not for credits, all doctorants are strongly encouraged to participate.
